Scattered throughout the jungles of Félicité private island – a wild place where curiously shaped, gargantuan granite boulders jut out onto quiet, powdery beaches – the villas and residences of Six Senses Zil Pasyon are an embodiment of the brand. An exclusive hideaway accessed only by boat or helicopter, Six Senses showcases the unspoiled beauty of the Seychelles while working to restore the island’s ecology; the result is a luxuriously tropical ode to well-being.

Built on the previous home of an intimate lodge that hosted celebrities and dignitaries in search of complete privacy and beautiful beaches, Zil Pasyon’s location is no accident. Just 20 minutes from Mahé, lesser-known Félicité is within striking distance of the more popular islands in the Seychelles – making this lovingly constructed retreat the perfect private base from which to explore the archipelago.
...conscious escapism. Unobtrusive and self-sufficient, everything here is considered. From the water that is filtered and bottled on-site and the food grown locally, while saplings of endangered, endemic plant species slowly creep from the soil in the nursery. To more fun and creative initiatives like plantable coloured pencils for children that hide seeds that sprout herbs or flowers when sown after use. Carefully designed to blend with the natural contours and colours, the line between Zil Pasyon’s buildings and the island is blurred – the main infinity pool seamlessly merges with the ocean, where timid black tip reef sharks occasionally glide through the shallows.
Perched on rugged granite hillsides, tucked half-camouflaged by trees, each villa is an architectural masterpiece complete with a private infinity-edge pool. Everyone is assigned Guest Experience Makers, who are real life GEMs, always on hand to make a stay here the most fulfilling it can be. The neutral, modestly decorated interiors of these intensely private rooms don’t overshadow the unconfined wilderness. The three towering residences are the showstoppers – where a glass-bottomed pool in the master bedroom on the top floor filters natural light and silhouetted ripples into the living space below.
Dramatically sprawled across the wild cliffs of Félicité’s eastern coast, the spa at Zil Pasyon is Six Senses operating at their best. Elementally themed rooms are built around, of course, the giant granite boulders, where sensory treatments are a union of science-endorsed therapies and the health-giving properties of the island’s own flora and fauna. For truly transformational stays, a wellness screening means individual biomarkers can be used to provide a personalised programme and individual lifestyle guide.
Hikes with the island’s conservation manager is the best way to get to know Félicité, and includes a treasure hunt among its lush vegetation; while a private helicopter tour of the archipelago’s 115 islands showcases the region from the skies. For those who prefer to explore by sea, a Manhattan 74 yacht waits in the marina ready for voyages to nearby Praslin where the rare coco de mer thrives in UNESCO protected Vallée de Mai.
Located just south of the equator the Seychelles experiences a tropical climate with temperatures ranging from 24°C and 32°C making it the perfect destination year round. May to September the cooling southeast tradewinds blow, bringing livelier seas and the possibility of seaweed. October to April bring the warm northwest tradewinds which sees an increase in temperatures and humidity. All but the southernmost islands fall outside the cyclone belt with January and February being the wettest months – rainfall is in short sharp intervals.
