The Owners House, River House and Farm House are based within the Madikwe Game Reserve, whilst the new Ocean House sits within the De Hoop Nature Reserve; Johannesburg is home to the AtholPlace Hotel & Villa retreat. Each of the fashionably-furnished bush homes enjoys the services of a private guide and tracker, chef, butler, hostess and housekeeper – a nanny can be arranged as required. In the company of experienced guides, game drives are tailored to suit the family’s individual requirements – sip sundowners in the hide that overlooks a waterhole, go catch-and-release fishing for catfish and carp or learn traditional dances with local school children.
Price is per night based on 6 sharing the Farm House on a fully inclusive basis with game viewing activities.

Low season for South Africa is generally between the months of May to September, high season runs from mid December to Easter. Supplements may apply to peak periods such as Christmas and Easter. Prices are per person per night based on 2 sharing (unless otherwise indicated) and itinerary prices include return economy flights from London. Regional departures and single supplements are available on request. Accommodation only prices do not include flights. Where prices for our hotels, lodges and camps are shown as fully inclusive this generally includes all food and drinks but in most cases will exclude certain premium branded spirits, premium wines and Champagne. The newest member of the Morukuru Family is Ocean House, joining this much-loved private African portfolio at the De Hoop Nature Reserve. Three hours drive east from Cape Town, the house sits alone, surrounded by vast swathes of fynbos and fronted by 51 kilometres of pristine beach punctuated with limestone cliffs and towering white sand dunes. A natural playground for both adults and children alike, the house comes with its own jeep and guide; there are caves to explore, marine walks, bush hiking, sand-boarding, mountain biking, flower safaris, rock pooling at low tide and some of the continent's best whale watching on the doorstep. From June to November, southern right whales migrate here to calve and nurse in the protected waters, and the spectacle is thrilling. The house itself feels like you've been set adrift in your own luxury cocoon. Utterly private, this unique gem has four bright, light en-suite bedrooms with glass doors looking out towards the ocean.
A year round destination, but expect cooler weather in the Eastern and Western Capes during winter, between June and August. Mpumalanga stays warm year round with temperatures, humidity and rainfall all increasing in the summer months between October and March. The whales return to the waters around Hermanus from July to November, and the spring months of August and September are particularly colourful along the Garden Route.
The prime time for game viewing is generally the drier winter and spring months from April to September when animals frequent the waterholes. During the wetter summer months between October and March, animals can still be viewed but are more widely dispersed – from December to February there may be more sightings of newborn animals.
