Offering something very different to Bangkok’s typical skyscraper hotels, this retreat is more akin to a turn-of-the-century family estate. Allure and intrigue permeate its hidden corners. Lovingly curated artefacts and vintage heirlooms showcasing Thai heritage and culture complement Bensley’s playful take on Art Deco and Beaux-Arts design, giving the hotel a depth of character and whimsical vibe. The elegant suites and villas of The Siam are equally enigmatic and each tell their own story. With a unique theme or narrative, in every suite you’ll also discover original artwork, an antique or two, old photographs, objet d’art and curios.
Service here is impeccable. Personal butlers anticipate and exceed every need – neatly packing and unpacking your clothes, serving copious cups of tea and coffee, personal shopping and arranging special trips to the more unusual spots in the city; hidden temples, the bustling sights of Chinatown, the colourful Pak Khlong flower and vegetable market and the backwaters and khlongs of Thonburi by longtail boat.
The Siam’s Signature Experiences are designed to awaken senses to the delights of Thai culture. From unravelling the mysteries behind Thai specialities at The Siam Cooking School, to joining a Muay Thai trainer in the hotel’s boxing ring or uncovering the ancient art of tattooing known as Sak Yant.
Top tip: for your own plunge pool and open-air roof terrace, opt to stay in the Riverview Pool Villas. They’re the only ones of their kind in the whole of Bangkok.
