Crete / Abaton Island Resort & Spa

A modernist marvel perched on a border of rocky coastline, close to Crete’s Hersonissos town, Abaton Island Resort & Spa is a sleek addition to Greece’s already spectacular portfolio of properties.

Offering contemporary elegance at every turn, this no-expense-spared resort creates a chic aesthetic with a string of low, white buildings which, accompanied by towering glass walls, pay homage to its breath-taking surroundings by allowing unparalleled views of seemingly endless seas. Inside, the resort houses 152 rooms, some with heated marble saltwater pools and all with an expansive terrace or balcony. Throughout, décor is minimalist with accents of the natural environment and just a hint of lavish luxuries – with white rooms being home to plush king-sized beds with carved driftwood headboards, and bathrooms offering Jo Malone toiletries and plush bathrobes.

Dining comes courtesy of five restaurants spread across the resort, each offering spectacular international and local fare of the highest, and most delicious, standard. Here, the F-Zin Ivy League Restaurant delivers a diverse selection of dishes using its Cretan flair; while World Luxury Restaurant Awards winner WOW Steak House offers up succulent signature cuts. But it's the beachfront Buddha Bar that serves as the heartbeat of Abaton, combining Asian cuisine with hefty doses of melodies and mixology.

Powered by Elemis, Abaton’s spa guides guests to relaxation with a wealth of treatments and therapies designed to revitalise the body, each offering an experience that’s completely unique. Across two treatment rooms, guest can partake in massages, body scrubs and Elemis Biotec technology facials, or make use of the indoor swimming pool and gym facilities.
