Holiday Type / Winter Experiences

For many, skiing may seem like an experience in itself, however if you’re looking to introduce a fresh aspect into your ski season then our winter experiences will give your time on the slopes an edge. Spend crisp, bright days training with an Olympic skier, evenings enraptured by performers at the legendary Zermatt Unplugged festival or nights in the famous ICEHOTEL wrapped in thermal sleeping bags, content after a resplendent dinner served in bowls of clear ice.

Break away from your usual routine this winter and see how a new experience can transform your holiday into something extraordinary.

Going for Gold

Whistler’s epic wilderness is a global stage for winter sports tournaments and a world-renowned training ground for future champions. Hit the slopes, explore the extensive backcountry or ride a halfpipe on a fun-filled day with an Olympic skier or snowboarder.

Take your ability to the next level following in their tracks and learning from their technique. Celebrate over après-ski and listen to the best competition stories from their fascinating career.

Music in the Mountains

Swap your snow boots for dancing shoes and follow music from the slopes to the stages with five days of acoustic re-inventions from world-renowned artists at Zermatt Unplugged. Held in April, this unique festival has become essential to the European music scene since 2007, with over 80 concerts and after-show parties across 14 stages spread throughout the village, surrounded by dazzling springtime snow.

A number of legendary musicians have performed here, including the likes of James Morrison, Lionel Richie, Jake Bugg and Ronnie Scott’s All Stars jazz band. To add to the festival feel, local gastronomy delights can be savoured in the Taste Village. Festival passes are available early December, early booking is recommended.

Salutation on the Slopes

Chair, Mountain and Tree Pose; these familiar transformative techniques used by yogi’s are being transferred to the pistes. Meaning ‘union’ in Sanskrit, yoga complements skiing in more ways than one; bringing a sense of calm and rhythm, improving strength and flexibility and aiding breathing in the high altitude mountain air.

Whether you’re a beginner or advanced skier, incorporating yoga before and after hitting the mountain gives the body an opportunity to strengthen and awaken muscles in the morning and stretch out those tight hamstrings in the evening. The uber-chic swiss alpine enclave, W Verbier encourages skiers to slip into deep stretches and relaxation through its Warm Up Yoga and After Ski Yoga classes in the double heighted, glassfronted studio overlooking the snow-covered village.

Safari Skier

Often thought of as one of the greatest European mountain ranges for ski enthusiasts, the UNESCO protected Dolomites region in the northern Italian Alps is undeniably striking. Its unusual terrain makes it the perfect winter playground for adventurous red-run skiers to delve deeper into the sport on an adrenaline-fuelled five or seven night ski safari.

Led by a knowledgeable, professional mountain guide in a small group of likeminded skiers, experience the freedom of skiing valley to valley catching fresh corduroy tracks and never skiing the same slope twice in the largest ski carousel in the world, the Dolomites Superski. Following a day of pure ski pleasure, evenings call for cosying up and enjoying the exceptional hospitality of family-run mountain rifugios and alpine hotels complemented by flavoursome northern Italian cuisine. Whether you prefer sticking to lift-served runs or heading off-piste, you’ll get the maximum slope time possible to make the most of this unforgettable experience.

Nordic Adventures

Beguiling snow-swept northerly lands invite exploration, and the Arctic Circle offers so much more than gloriously uncrowded pistes and thrilling night skiing. Iceland Luxury Camp brings a totally different way to experience the untamed landscapes and nature – with no compromise on luxury – a personal host and chef are on hand to cater to your needs. Tour the mystical black lava fields and witness thundering waterfalls by Super Jeep, before venturing to Reykjavik to float in the steamy waters of The Spa Retreat at the Blue Lagoon.

Discover a winter wonderland at Arctic TreeHouse Hotel or Villa Laavu in Finnish Lapland, with exhilarating husky safaris through ancient snow-laden forests and accelerating snowmobile rides over breath-taking glaciers to seek out the spectacular Northern Lights.

Standing in blanketed snow plains 200-kilometres north of the Arctic Circle, Sweden’s famed ICEHOTEL promises an unforgettable stay. Spend the night in an ice bed topped with thermal sleeping bags and reindeer skins and dine from bowls of crystal clear ice.

Coolest Snowcat

As the gondolas come to a quiet halt and the last trail is emptied, the carved up slopes from the day’s activity are magically transformed into perfect corduroy lines for another day of action. Reserved exclusively for guests at Aspen’s only ski-in, ski-out hotel, The Little Nell, accompany an expert snow groomer in a Prinoth “Bison 350” snowcat, complete with wrap-around windows for ultimate visibility, and enjoy sunset views over Aspen as you glide down the mountain creating perfectly groomed slopes.

Seven Resorts in Seven Days

Endless piste and off-piste skiing adventures across seven world-class ski resorts lie within a 30 minute Mercedes transfer of Chalet Pelerin, a five-bedroom authentic retreat nestled in the mountain hamlet of Le Miroir, close to Sainte-Foy.

In addition to the services of an award-winning chef and extensive wine cellar, unparalleled inclusions range from ski passes, use of Wagner Custom skis, a professional photographer and certified guides to arrange skiing and mountain adventures. Ski a different resort every day from the vast terrains of Val d’Isère, Tignes, Les Arcs and La Plagne and over the French Italian border from La Rosière to La Thuile.
